Food Safety and Mushroom The Albay Mushroom producers association (AMPA) has been recently organized with the aid of the Albay provincial Agriculture Office (APAO) and its officers have been formally inducted last May 26, 2018 and the association is on its way for SEC registration. Mushroom growers within Albay have been profiled and the number of mushroom producers are considerably growing. Some of the AMPA members are already on their processing ventures. During the 1st Bicol Agri Expo held last May 22-26, 2018, the AMPA exhibit booth successfully showcased and marketed mushroom products such as pickles, polvoron, jam, lumpia, siomai, chips, and ice cream. However, most if not all processors are not yet registered under DTI nor FDA registered, and lack further knowledge on packaging, labelling, food safety, and good manufacturing practice.
